Jamie's mom died when she was one year old, and so foster care became the life she knew. In some of Jamie's seven placements, she was left at home by herself, or left with a neighbor that smoked a lot. Other homes were verbally abusive and she never felt safe enough. There were huge cultural differences, too. For Jamie, foster care was confusing.
She was so young and didn't understand why she was being sent from family to family. Thankfully, Jamie experienced a few good homes, too. Jamie wants to learn how to make ripples in society by making a difference in not just foster care but in other social pools like education, healthcare, and poverty.
