Tym is a trusted and respected national voice in child welfare. Currently a researcher at the University of Texas at Austin, he is passionate about improving foster care outcomes for youth transitioning out of care. Tym has over a decade of experience working, consulting and advising on a variety of national projects to ensure that the lived experience perspective and the youth voice is fully integrated into child welfare. Outside of work, Tym volunteers to help young people experiencing foster care to advocate for change at the legislative level, both in Texas and nationally. In 2013, Tym was recognized by FosterClub as an Outstanding Young Leader.

Tym holds a Masters in Political Science from Texas State University and graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University – Kingsville with a double major in Political Science and Sociology. A true music aficionado, in his free time he writes songs and records music.
