Montana Child and Family Ombudsman

About this resource

The Office of the Child and Family Ombudsman works to prevent child abuse and neglect and increase safety, well-being, and permanancy for Montana's children through fair and just advocacy, education, outreach, and investigation.

When they receive a report they will respond with one of four options: the first is to "decline to intervene" if for some reason they aren't the appropriate person to help. The second possible response is "referral to other services" where they will help you find the appropriate person to help. The third option is to have an informal mediation or will help without a formal process. The last option is "investigation and report" if the person reporting has tried numerous times and through different resources to resolve a conflict and it hadn't helped yet.
