Aspire Indiana

About this resource

A fully integrated health care provider, Aspire offers both primary medical and behavioral health care, but also addresses social determinants of health like employment and housing. Our support programs include addiction services, individual and group therapy, infectious disease, youth and family services, crisis management, rehabilitation, housing assistance, job placement and more.

Aspire Indiana is nonprofit, financially strong – and growing. Our health centers are located in Central Indiana, but our reach extends to helping Hoosiers all across the state.

At Aspire, there is “no wrong door” to the services that we offer. Whether a person comes to us through our primary care services or our behavioral health services, that person is screened for co-occurring health care issues. Based on their needs we then offer coordinated care designed to treat the whole person.

Our journey into integrated care started over a dozen years ago when we became the very first Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) in the nation to receive grant funds from the Health Resource Service Administration (HRSA). Since then, we have been branded as an innovator by our peers and a leader in health care reform. We are proud to hold FQHC Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) look-alike status at our locations in central Indiana.

Today, our mission statement is “Together...Making Health and Well-Being a Reality”. That reality can only be achieved by taking healthcare out of its traditional silos of behavioral health, primary health, and substance abuse treatment and managing health from a whole person perspective. Our professionals work as a team to develop individualized and comprehensive treatment plans for the primary and behavioral healthcare needs of each individual that we serve. Many of our services are offered on a sliding-fee scale for those who don’t have insurance.

Our treatment plans for behavioral health and substance use disorders can include one-on-one counseling, group therapy, family therapy, skills training, and medication assisted treatment. Integrated primary healthcare providers can treat countless acute concerns as well as chronic conditions, like diabetes and high blood pressure, that require long-term management.

With over 500 members of staff and locations in Anderson, Carmel, Elwood, Indianapolis, Lebanon, and Noblesville, we are changing the way that healthcare is delivered not only to our target populations, but to anyone who wants high quality integrated healthcare at an affordable price.

In addition to our outpatients services for addiction, behavioral, and primary care, we also provide:

Deaf Services: No behavioral healthcare organization in Indiana provides more comprehensive services and options for children and adults who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind. Aspire’s nationally-recognized program includes both inpatient and outpatient services, housing and employment programs, and American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services.
Crisis Intervention: Aspire has a 24/7 Crisis Intervention service to help those with mental health crises and emergencies.
Housing Assistance: Aspire has access to or manages a variety of housing options for its clients, including rapid re-housing, shelter plus care, HOPWA, Section 8 apartments, PATH, and Co-Op living. With approximately 300 housing units, Aspire is one of the largest housing providers of any Community Mental Health Center in Indiana.
Infectious Disease: Aspire provides case management for people living with HIV/AIDS and offers HIV testing and prevention programs, including PrEP. Our HIV Care Coordinators provide services in over one third of the state. We also offer a special program for those dually diagnosed with HIV and substance use disorders.
Employment Programs: Aspire provides supported employment through the federal Ticket to Work program. Job skills training and employment counseling services are offered through our Indiana Works program.
TeleHealth: Aspire provides telehealth services to adolescents at Elwood Schools and can also provide this service as needed for intake and counseling appointments.
Kids Talk: Kids Talk is an accredited child advocacy center in Anderson which serves children and families in Madison and Tipton counties. Our professionals work with law enforcement, prosecutors, and the Department of Child Services to provide forensic interview and advocacy services for abused, neglected, and at-risk children. Kids Talk staff also present abuse prevention programs at community schools, reaching over 12,000 K-12 students in 2017.
