Goodbye 2015!

FosterClub's policy team has been busy this past year. We started the year off with a Stakeholder meeting hosted by the Administration for Children and Families to discuss the implementation of the Strengthening Families Act. We also brought the National Foster Care Youth and Alumni Policy Council members out to DC to welcome new members and discuss policies impacting crossover youth and youth facing homelessness. In May, we supported over 60 former foster youth in DC for Congressional Foster Youth Shadow Day, and we brought even more young leaders to Washington DC to promote National Foster Care Month with briefings on Capitol Hill and at the White House. We went back to the White House over the summer to support the First Lady with her education priorities, and we continue to activate young leaders in policy in a variety of ways. We even borrowed a FosterClub AllStar to help foster youth by sharing her story in a formal testimony to the Senate Finance Committee! Meanwhile, we have been keeping a list of what works well and what young leaders like in terms of events and activities, so that we can offer better policy programs in 2016! We are looking forward to working with you all and we are grateful for all of your hard work!
