Tristan Torres is a former foster youth from Las Vegas, NV. He spent 9 months in care and now uses his lived experience to advocate for system reform for LGBTQ2+ youth in out-of-home settings. He has used his story in collaboration with several non-profits to pass a law in Nevada that puts protections in place for LGBTQ2+ youth in foster care and juvenile detention called AB-99. He has also advocated for national policies like the Every Child Deserves a Family Act and the Equality Act. He aspires to work in critical conditions such as serving as a 911-dispatcher and studying forensic science in order to help others.
