Shannon spent 11 years in Arkansas's foster care system.

Before aging out of the foster-care system, Shannon Boney spent 11 years in care experiencing a staggering 40 placements including therapeutic homes, group homes and long-term facilities. Her time in care was hard. Shannon dealt with inadequate help from caseworkers, an unsuccessful adoption, and was constantly plagued by the idea her biological mother was coming back for her. Shannon knows first hand the emotional stresses of being care and how hard it is for teenaged foster youth to find forever, loving homes.
Currently, Shannon is President of the Leadership Board at Immerse Arkansas, a nonprofit group for youth after they exit foster care, and a full-time employee. She is fun and energetic with a love of helping others and meeting new people. Shannon is focused on raising her daughter and one day, opening a business that will help support foster children.
