Ryan is working on finishing his associate’s degree this year and is hoping to transfer to Seattle University. Since Ryan was eight years old, he has been trying to navigate the foster care system. He overcame adversity being involved with half a dozen placements in different cities all across the state of Washington. It was not easy, but it pushed him to realize the importance of education and resiliency. For the last six years Ryan has been working to help improve the foster care system and he hopes to be a supporter of foster youths rights for years to come. He is a representative on the statewide youth advocacy board Passion to Action and the Washington State Supreme Court Commission on Youth in Foster Care. Ryan is an optimist, an advocate, a student… and a foster youth.
