Rebecca experienced 13 different elementary schools and numerous placements while in foster care. She says, "As you can imagine, this made school difficult for me." By seventh grade she had found a good placement. "Fortunately, I did find my forever family by the seventh grade and they became my permanent foster home. I am now out of the system but I still live with my family." Rebecca has volunteered her time to be a coach for the Special Olympics, where she helps the participants as well as coordinating athletes and events. She has also worked as a counselor at various camps, and is currently working at Oregon Community Programs where she is a skills trainer for foster youth.
