Leah Alejandra Cleland headshot
Leah Alejandra Cleland spent 11 years in Maine's foster care system. Leah was placed in care at the age of 7. After 2 failed adoptions, 8 foster homes and 2 group homes Leah successfully graduated from high school in 2010. Overcoming obstacles like physical and emotional abuse, Leah now lives on her own and is starting a family. She's been able to maintain natural supports and although she hasn't completed college yet, she is thriving by participating in panels for youth advocacy. In the near future Leah plans to pursue a bachelors degree in social work. However, to keep herself busy in the meantime, she enjoys reading, writing and preparing for her son's arrival in October 2012. Leah is an advocate, volunteer, and foster youth.
