Ivy-Marie was 7 when she entered the Texas Child Welfare system.

Ivy-Marie states she is grateful to have only experienced one placement.

Ivy-Marie completed a Foster Youth Internship with the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) and advocated in Washington D.C. for legislation pertaining to all current and former foster youth. She looks forward to returning to the CCAI Angels in Adoption event each year. She also volunteers with programs serving transition-age youth in her community.

Currently, a case manager for a Foster Care agency in San Antonio. She thinks she might one day move to Washington DC to work more directly on legislation and policy affecting foster youth. 

“I give back because I know what it feels like to not have that support. I know the fear of not knowing your own future.”
