Destiny Sweeney spent 3 years in Tennessee's foster care system.

Destiny spent forty-eight hours in care at the age of eight but was permanently placed into the child welfare system at the age of sixteen. School and work are her top priorities, as she is a full-time student and works two jobs. She is a student at Chattanooga State Community College and is a legal assistant part time. In Fall of 2017 Destiny will transfer to Chattanooga University and major in history. As Former President of Tennessee's Valley Youth 4 Youth Board, she was recently appointed to be a youth member of the Tennessee Commission of Children and Youth (TCCY).

This assertive individual likes to use her voice to advocate for other teens to be successful and overcome the hardships of foster care. Upon graduating from Chattanooga University, Destiny aspires to attend law school and be an attorney. She likes to advocate for changing the stigma of foster care, and releasing the stereotypes we regularly see. Destiny will continue to motivate other teens in foster care to reach for their dreams, as she has
