Chaka first joined the foster care system when he was 17 years old, after spending time in a number of group homes, detention centers, and an independent living home. During his time in foster care, Chaka was able to finish high school and plan for college. Chaka credits staff where he was staying who helped him in getting ready to move on to life after leaving the foster care system. During his stay in care, he worked on overcoming obstacles and issues with his biological family. Today, Chaka is a student at Alabama State University, majoring in physical education. In the future, he plans on coaching division 1 basketball. Chaka is a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, trains in mixed martial arts, future coach… and a foster kid.
