Brina spent 1 1/2 years in the Michigan Child Welfare system. 

Brina experienced 3 placements before reunifying with her family.

Although her life had been disrupted she has gone on to be a volunteer at Volunteers of America, the Hot Cider Hustle, and a winter 5k, along with various National Honor Society events. She has also participated in the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society. Currently, Brina is the Vice President for Ingham County Michigan Youth Opportunities Initiative as well she is a member of YAC, for the American Mental Health Association.

Brina is attending community college and is planning to transfer to Western University. She aspires to have her own private practice as a therapist.
