Anahi Figueroa-Martinez, 19, Pennsylvania's Foster Care System
Anahi spent 9 years in foster care and experienced a multitude of placements.
Anahi is a big advocate for juvenile justice. She has been a member of the group, Juveniles for Justice through the Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia, PA, for the last three years. The Juveniles for Justice program works with youth who have had experience with the juveniles for justice program members make recommendations for system reform. She is also a member of the Juvenile Law Center’s Youth Speakers’ Bureau. Being a member has helped her with her speaking and presentation skills. She has spoken at large conferences and has met with Congressional aides.
Anahi is in high school and was Honored for perfect attendance in 2016-2017. She enjoys music because it is an escape for her. She also enjoys reading books about criminal justice cases.
