At an early age, Alexis entered foster care with her siblings due to both parents facing life sentences. She experienced several placements, school changes and separation from her siblings, but remained resilient. At the age of 16, Alexis entered a Transitional Housing Placement Program (THPP) where she learned to live on her own. Alexis graduated high school early and began college at Santa Rosa Junior College studying Psychology and Juvenile Justice. She now plans to major in Criminology and continuing her education at law school, so she can better help at risk youth.
Alexis is very devoted to the work that she does as a peer advocate, foster youth board member, FosterClub Ambassador, as well as a Project Associate with the Youth Engagement Project around policy consulting with the Child and Family Policy Institute of California (CFPIC). She also works on a project called HealthShack for Altruit, which is a tool for transitional age youth that allows them to store all of their important life documents online so they can access them as they age out of care and for the rest of their lives. In her limited free time, Alexis enjoys playing volleyball, advocating for pit bulls and being a motivational speaker to her peers, particularly through her local CYC chapter.
