Alexandria Ware spent 11 years in the Kansas foster care system

Although it was hard, she learned coping skills, tenacity and gained a desire to help others achieve. Currently, Alexandria is a first-generation and a honor student at Kansas State University (KSU) and will be attending Oklahoma State University in the Fall for a Child and Family Services degree. Alexandria has developed a strong network of support and involvement on campus, she co-founded Fostering Success - a program helping students who age out of the foster care system with academic stability, political knowledge and leadership - is a member of Black Student Union, Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society, Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success, is a Multicultural Ambassador and received the College of Human Ecology Student of the Month Award. In the future, Alexandria would like to open a center where foster youth can come and receive tutoring, mentoring, college admission preparation and job skills.
