Aaron has become the young man he is today by persevering. Like many men of color, his childhood was filled with obstacles. Aaron experienced multiple placements including relative, homeless shelters, group homes, and transitional living programs during his six years in foster care.
Aaron attended Seton Hall University as an undergraduate receiving his B.A. in Sociology. While at Seton Hall, he co-founded an organization, Black Men of Standard, with the goal of empowering black men, by raising the standard and encouraging service in the community. He was initiated as a member into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and served as President for the Iota Rho Chapter. He currently is a Master of Social Work candidate at Howard University, where his studies are concentrated in Community, Administration, & Policy Practice. He is also, currently, a Research Assistant on the Child Welfare team at Child Trends.
A success story in the eyes of some; a working progress in the eyes of others; he has taken responsibility and knows he can offer innovative ideas that will revolutionize the system. He will assist providers to ensure that their services are giving every youth optimal opportunity. He will inspire youth to realize their potential and resilience, helping them to understand that their current situation does not dictate who they will become. Rather allow their trials and tribulations to mold them into the leaders they are destined to be.
